The Lord Nelson is the place to go in The Rocks in Sydney. Their pie and mash is gorgeous.

If you want to go walking in Hastings try Ecclesbourne Glen and Fairlight Glen. If you approach Fairlight Glen from the east (Warren Glen) you get particularly fantastic views. According to locals, John Logie Baird was here when he invented television. Whether he was inspired to share the views with the world or wanted to give everyone else a reason to stay at home so he could have the glen to himself, no-one knows. At the bottom of the hill there used to be steps down to the nudist beach, but they've been lost in the frequent landslips. Those who do scramble down find themselves in a pretty little cove with a sartorial decision to make.

The West Hill Café in Hastings sits on top of a sandstone outcrop. To get there you can climb the rocks, walk up the very steep path or take the West Hill Lift. Whichever way you go you will be rewarded with great cakes and fabulous views of the country park, the Old Town and the sea.

Taketomi Shima is one of the southwest islands in Japan, closer to Taiwan than to mainland Japan. This is a very small island surrounded by the Coral Sea. You can cycle round Taketomi Shima in a couple of hours. (You cannot bring a car to this island and you cannot rent a car, but there are a few bicycle rental shops). The whole island is kept natural without disturbance. The last time we went there was January but we could swim in the daytime 17-20C, we saw a big bat flying in the afternoon and many beautiful fireflies at night. There are a couple of beaches which have white sands shaped like stars.

We flew by balloon around Tsavo national park. We took off about 4.30 in the morning, and saw the beautiful sunrise from the air. We could see many animals from the sky, landed in the middle of the park and had champagne. This tour was organised by a Japanese company called Dososhin.

Rozengrals Medieval Restaurant in Riga is a great place to eat food from long ago. We had bread wrapped up in muslin, a whole chicken and four side salads. The whole atmosphere was really good, but beware of the ball and chain when you go to the toilet.

When looking for a coffee in Amsterdam do NOT go into a coffeeshop. They sell other things there that in most parts of the world are illegal. Instead, go into a café, restaurant or similar place. Enjoy!

We went bobsledding in Lillehammer with an experienced driver. In winter you do it on ice, but we did it on wheels. It's a fast thrill, in a minute it was all over. It was really cool.

Try Panama Jacks restaurant in Cape Town. Our taxi driver Kelvin recommended it for the best sea food in town. We decided to invite Kelvin to join us for a meal and after raving about how good the sea food was he ordered a steak! We ordered sea food and were not disappointed, the mussels and prawns were to die for. Take a taxi to the restaurant as you will never find it otherwise, it is in the middle of the dock area.
